Colonel Tom Diamond commanded all Combat Camera units world wide, including more than 103 detachments, seven squadrons and nearly 2000 combat cameramen deployed across seven continents. His units were the first to employ digital imaging cameras and portable satellite transmitters in combat. His innovations wowed all Americans TV audiences during operation Desert Storm in Iraq. For his leading edge developments his unit was awarded the Department of Defense Total Quality Award in 1994, the only such unit so recognized. Colonel Diamond’s awards include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, The Air Medal, The Meritorious Service Medal, The Air Force Commendation Medal, The Vietnam Air Service Medal and The Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for Valor. Colonel Diamond has a Masters Degree in Communicative Arts from Denver University. He is a Vietnam Veteran with 35 aerial combat missions as a combat photographer over Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
